Channelling My Hygge With 3 Essential Local Products

Monday, December 19, 2016

Ain't it crazy how great our local brands are?

Well it's not like I'm surprised, but I'm forever coming across more and more Northern Irish artisans with the best products to offer.

There is something far more exciting about owning products by local brands and by people you know.

The quote 'when you buy from a small business an actual person does a little happy dance' is total truth.

However I have been spoilt over the last few days with little surprises.
3 of these gloriously cute products (by local brands) were gifted to me!

1) My girl Hannah - our friendship is young but boy am I grateful for it and she must know me well enough to gift me a spikey but sweet cactus.

We both had a little trouble pulling it out of the bag though - how can something be so pretty and dangerous at the same time?!
It made my day, not only the gift but getting to see her before all the Christmas madness begins.
The cactus is from Belfast's first ever 'botanicals bar' - Best Buds (in Bullitt Hotel) .

2) This unbelievably scrumptious smelling candle from So Soy is pretty unbelievable.

In fact I will go as far as to say that it is the best scented candle I have sniffed in quite a while.
And I do sniff a lot of candles.

Hand poured in her home along the North Coast, Hannah Magee started So Soy out of a sheer love for scented candles. The best thing about these candles, to me, are the indulgent scent combinations she has created.
There is something so cosy about her creative combinations, and if you are looking for some beautiful scents for your home this Christmas, So Soy is where it's at.
My candle is 'black coffee, jasmine and vanilla'. If i'm honest there is an inner voice telling me to take a big bite out of it (is that weird? maybe a little.. anyway). One of my favourite things about this brand is where the candles are poured - right next to the Giants Causeway.
Heading Up North is one of Aaron and I's favourite escapes. For us it's a chance to leave behind the city and breath in some pure crisp air along the coast and grab a coffee and a slice of Swedish Almond Custard Cake from Lost & Found Coffee House (another local brand you must check out).
So I love that this candle reminds me of my favourite escape.

3) It's been a while since i've received an envelope in the post which wasn't an appointment to attend or a bank statement to chuck in a folder.

So last week when a brown envelope peeked out among our post with my name written on it in the most beautiful way, it definitely put a smile on my face. Then to find upon opening, in a little flurry of excitement, a print by Gemma and Dan from Brown Paper Packages, I was over the moon!
How sweet?
I have to say I definitely wasn't expecting it, having only met Gemma once, I think this was such a lovely little act of kindness.
If you haven't already heard of Brown Paper Packages, go check them out & their Instagram is also super pretty so it's definitely worth have a scroll through.

I consider these 3 things to be my 'hygge essentials'

Back track... " 'hygge' what on earth? "

If you read my blog regularly you will know I'm obsessed with the small details of a home. I so appreciate the little nicknacks that you can forever play with to add to the overall aesthetic of a room,  and with that being said, the danish term Hygge caught my attention this year.

READ: Sea Salt Hot Chocolate Recipe Review for a hygge inspired cup of yum for your tum.

Hygge: "Though there are many ways to describe hygge, we see it simply as the Danish ritual of enjoying life’s simple pleasures. Friends. Family. Graciousness. Contentment. Good feelings. A warm glow."

We all have our own hygge ways, and many speak about how to help channel the hygge feeling in your home - I love this, because I think without knowing the term, I have always made a conscious effort to style my surroundings to make way for a joyous, comforting and creative atmosphere.

I find this to be the perfect recipe for inspiration. For as long as I can remember I have always valued making my surroundings inspiring and beautiful as much as I could.

In a strange way your surroundings reflect who you are and who you are reflects onto your surroundings.

So with that being said, I am so grateful for the many surprises this last week allowing me to channel my 'hygge' even more with some of my favourite things...
but mostly I am appreciating the local creatives behind them.

Check back mid-week for a little post on  J O Y

  1. Really, our local brands are so great! Thank you for the post and for the beautiful photos! I am studing in University, and when it comes the session time and I need to write an assignment, I visit my favourite writing service and they do my assignment

  2. I am a writer and it is a great present for me! Thank you so much! If you need, here is a wonderful writing service I always get perfect works from them.

  3. I always read your blog with great pleasure, because you write your articles at a high level, I'm not sure that I will be able to write just the same. So I prefer to buy essay papers for my blog.

  4. My sister considers candles to be an integral part of modern design and home comfort, it is the spirit of the house with vanilla, sandalwood or citrus .. MMM. Great! Angela got carried away with design in the institute then it was necessary to combine learning and courses. Often it was necessary to seek help from writers, otherwise, she wouldn`t have had time to complete numerous tasks and prepare a design project at the same time. With relief, she sighed when her training was completed, and thanks to writers buy research paper for having solved many problems with essays, reports, and reviews quickly and for an adequate price for the student.

  5. i Appreciate, local brands are really pretty it's very useful for us Send gifts to Pakistan online.
